Joseph, better known by his nickname “Chip,” is an attorney in the firm’s Estate Planning and Probate Practice Group. Chip considers his legal practice to primarily consist of developing solutions to complex issues.  He sees the law as a tool to accomplish objectives that are specific to each individual and their story.  For this reason, initial consultations are aimed at understanding all aspects of a potential matter, including large worldview issues of which the client may not yet be aware.    He advises clients regarding a variety of matters but primarily focuses on pre-death planning and post-death administration.  He sees the former as a means of limiting disputes following a person’s passing and uses a variety of estate planning tools to avoid post-death administration issues all-together.  When post-death administration issues do arise, he aims to find common ground among the parties while simultaneously representing the client’s best interest informed by an analysis of the law.  When he is not representing clients’ legal needs, he is often with his wife, Bethany, or out in nature in search of a still frame masterpiece showing the majesty of the natural world.
